Meet Our Pastor,Margie Matthews
Pastor Margie is a lifelong member of the Hopkins United Methodist Church in Highland, Maryland. She grew up in Clarksville and attended Howard County Public Schools. She has served in nearly every capacity of the church from Hospitality Ministry to the Pulpit when she first began lay speaking in the late 1980's. In 2022, Margie was
Pastor Margie is a lifelong member of the Hopkins United Methodist Church in Highland, Maryland. She grew up in Clarksville and attended Howard County Public Schools. She has served in nearly every capacity of the church from Hospitality Ministry to the Pulpit when she first began lay speaking in the late 1980's. In 2022, Margie was appointed as the Chairperson of the Restorative Justice Team of the Baltimore Washington Conference in Fulton, MD.
She has a heart for ALL the people of God and enjoys good food, fellowship, study, listening to music and singing. Margie is the mother of two adult children: Dwayne, who is the father of her two awesome grandchildren, Anthony & Aaliyah. Her daughter, DeWanda, an actor, is married to her wonderful son-in- law, Alano.
Her favorite joke is that she loves to have a well laid out plan, but God always reminds her that it is subject to change at any given moment. Her favorite scripture is and forever will be: Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
