What We Believe

Washington Grove UMC is:  A community of Christians who seek God’s will, serve people locally and globally, and grow in grace by studying and ministering with  Jesus Christ.

What we are not:  Judgmental.  Everyone is welcome in this church.  We really mean it.  “Open hearts, open minds, open doors,” is a way of life for us.  Just as all persons are loved by God, we feel strongly that the table at which Jesus is our true host is revealed by radical inclusiveness.

We are disciples of a healing Lord, and both children and adults are protected by our “safe sanctuaries” policies.  Our community is here so that all can open up to the miracle of God’s loving and healing grace.   “Church” means the people, not the steeple, so our ministries of serving begin each week, as we go forth to seek God in daily life and to  care for others.  Our beliefs are shown by who we are, and what we do.  We are so glad that you visited this site, and read about our beliefs.  When you visit us in person, you’ll experience our community of faith in action.
