Special Events and ServicesWritten by Craig English on May 16, 2012
Each Halloween we host a “Trunk of Treat”. It is typically a night to decorate the car and go trick or treating from car to car instead of door to door. The kids love it and it’s a fun way to see all our friends in one place and have treat times of community fun.
This year we especially collaborated with The Woman’s Club and collected everyone’s extra and leftover candy
to be sent to our deployed troops.
Another community activity sponsored by WGUMC is a “Blessing of the Backpacks”.
This is an outdoor service followed by outdoor activities, face paintings and fun games to offer encouragement to the excited and comfort to the anxious. We also donate backpacks filled with supplies to local schools.
Special worship services at Washington Grove include: Thanksgiving Service and Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas plays and pageants; Lenten meals and Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday services, and an Easter sunrise service in the field on Ridge Road in Washington Grove.
